Who are you?...

Though I would share with you my latest creation. I've been working on this for a while, as burning into timber is quite a time consuming affair. But I've finally finished it off and need your advice :)

I was planning to add color to parts of it, maybe a highlight of red here and there, but as it's on timber it's quite hard to undo if i doesn't look too good. I think before I take the leap of faith I should get a high quality scan of it first. Maybe color it in Photoshop. Its definitely the safer option.

Anyways, I'd love to know what you think.

  1. Oh my god! I love it! it's so awesome, insainly jealous and inspired!!
Definately get a good quality scan/picture of it, and I would try colouring in photoshop. That way you'll get an idea of what it would look like. Also if you have spare wood, do some test patches with the paint or medium you are planning to use. I think it could look great.
I personally would be quite scared i'd reck it and therefore, what if you kept the wood bare, as it doesn't need colour. then with you high quality prints, you can colour them and sell them. That way you always have the original un-marked, and you can change colours anytime you want on the prints. what do you think?

  2. This is GORGEOUS! I absolutely love the design and the line quality. I think a little bit of color would look nice, but I wouldn't overdo it since the lines and the wood texture are so lovely already! Perhaps a wash of color that would still allow the wood grain to show through? It's definitely a good idea to get a great scan, first!

  3. Ooooo! This is sooo beautiful, I love it!! It's such a lovely effect! You're very talented... and must have the patience of a saint!! :)
I understand your dilemma... I agree with Heather, I would have a play around with photoshop first and see what you think. It may be best to leave the original as it is and create colour options for prints on photoshop instead.

  4. Thanks for your feedback guys. I've scanned it and am going to have a play to see what looks best. I think I'm aiming toward a few little white washes and a few areas of a nice wood varnish, which would just give a different texture on some parts. After I finish I plan on setting up an easy shop... Finally! Xo
